Acromegaly - Gigantism Syndrome on Tanya Angus

This story is really touching.. i never know if there' a disease like this. she grows bigger because of acromegaly

Acromegaly is a hormonal disorder that most commonly occurs in middle-aged men and women. The prevalence of acromegaly is approximately 4,676 cases per million population, and the incidence is 116.9 new cases per million per year. The name "acromegaly" comes from the Greek words for "extremities" (acro) and "great" (megaly), because one of the most common symptoms of this condition is abnormal growth of the hands and feet.

The symptoms of acromegaly can vary and they develop gradually over time; therefore, a diagnosis of this condition may be difficult. Early detection is a goal in the management of acromegaly because the pathologic effects of increased growth hormone (GH) production are progressive.

A woman from Nevada, Tanya Angus, is considered one of the tallest and heaviest women on the planet because she cant stop growing.

Diagnosed with a rare hormonal condition known as Acromegaly, Tanya Angus has gone from a bikini beach babe on her 18th year to a woman standing at 6'5 (198CM) 473 pound (215kg) woman.

Tanya Angus was a perfectly healthy 20 year old woman, when she noticed that her clothes were beginning to not fit.

At the time she was 5′ 11″ and 115 pounds. But ten years later, she now stands at 6′ 6″ and 480 pounds, and continues to grow. After multiple misdiagnoses, Angus was finally told she is suffering from acromegaly, often associated with gigantism.

Acromegaly is a syndrome in which the pituitary gland produces excessive amounts of human growth hormone. There are a number of causes that can create this problem, but unfortunately for Angus, she has the most common and most difficult to treat.

A brain tumor has wrapped itself around her pituitary gland, causing the overproduction of hormone. Doctors have performed multiple surgeries to remove the tumor but it repeatedly grows back.

Meet Tanya Angus, a thirty-year-old woman who suffers from the very rare, human-hormone-growth syndrome acromegaly. Born in 1979, Angus spent the first twenty years of her life relatively normal. However, at the age of twenty she started to notice some changes. Big changes.

There's another victim of this Acromegaly, you must be recognize him.. he is Andre the Giant

The most recognizable victim may be pro-wrestler Andre the Giant. One of the WWF’s most famous wrestlers, Andre was billed anywhere from 6′ 10″ to 7′ 4″ tall and 500-565 pounds. He went on to famously play a gentle giant in the film The Princess Bride After refusing to be treated for his condition, he died at the early age of 46 due to cardiac complications
